Mindfulness Quote For Today

To dwell in the here and now does not mean you never think about the past or plan responsibly for the future. The idea is simply not to allow yourself to get lost in regrets about the past or worries about the future. If you are firmly grounded in the present moment, the past can be an object of inquiry, the object of your mindfulness and concentration. You can attain many insights by looking into the past. But you are still grounded in the present moment.

How I Met My Twin Flame

My Twin Flame, who I will refer to as H to protect his privacy, found me on a dating site that I was only a member of because I was helping a friend who was having issues with dating scammers on the site. I was a member of an anti-dating scam website at the time, and so I would let the scammers find me on this dating site and then I would post their photos and info on the anti-dating scam website to help other women from becoming their targets. At first I wasn’t sure about him and thought it was possible that he too was a dating scammer.

We started by messaging on the dating site and then moved to exchanging e-mails. He told me about his life in Barbados and I told him about my life here in Newfoundland, Canada. He told me he was married and had a couple of kids. I told him that was nice, but that it also meant we would be nothing more than friends because I don’t get involved with married men and that I was in an online relationship with a man in Ontario at the time, so I wasn’t looking for a relationship. He was okay with that, he said he was just interested in meeting people from all over the world and learning about different cultures. I thought he was nice but that was all.

Then on the night of January 15th, 2008, I was online on MSN waiting for the guy in Ontario to come online when H came online and wanted to chat. So I told him I was waiting for my guy to show up and he said if it was okay with me could we chat till then. Well the guy in Ontario never did come online that night and so I talked to H for 5 hours. Honestly it was the most amazing chat I had ever had in my life. Right from the start we were reading each other’s minds, finishing each other’s sentences, it was crazy. We discovered we had a lot of things in common and felt the same way about things. I kept asking him “who are you and where have you been all my life??” We kept saying we were like “two peas in a pod” because of what we were experiencing in our very first chat. By the time we said goodbye that night I already knew I loved him!

At this point I knew nothing about Twin Flames, had never even heard the term before. All I knew was that this man was someone special to me even if I didn’t understand the how or why of it. Over the next couple of months, our connection became even more obvious. We would text or call each other at the same time. When it came to texting it was funny because back then I had an old phone that was once my daughter’s. If I was writing a text message and one came in at the same time I would lose what I had written. So this one day when I was writing H a text, he was sending me messages at the same time and so I couldn’t seem to get my text message to him finished. After a couple of attempts, I gave up and called him and said “please stop texting me so I can finish my text to you!” We both laughed.

Then one night I was upset and crying and H called me to see what was wrong. I asked him how the heck he knew anything was wrong with me when he’s in Barbados and I’m in Newfoundland. And he said “because I can feel you are upset, so are you going to tell me what is wrong?” A couple of days into our relationship he started sending me Youtube videos of love songs. The first one he sent me was “A Kind of Hush” by Herman’s Hermits. When I started listening to it I cried because when I was 10 years old I had the record that I played pretty much non-stop because I loved the song so much. As we had not talked about that song there was no way he could have known what it meant to me, so was it just a coincidence? I think not!

One day I started having pain on the right side of my face, like a toothache, but as I had been to the dentist recently I knew I didn’t have any cavities so I didn’t know why I was having this pain. Later that night when H came online he said he almost didn’t come on because he had a toothache. I asked him what side it was on and he wanted to know why I wanted to know that. I laughed and said “just tell me what side your toothache is on please” and he said it was on his right side. Then I told him that I had toothache pain on the same side all day. When he got the tooth out my pain went away too. Again, not a coincidence.

So here I was so madly in love with a man who lives thousands of miles away from me, and yet despite the distance, someone I have never felt so connected to. I knew this was different from the “normal” relationships I have read about and seen with my own eyes in my family and friends, and even my own marriage (I’ve been divorced for 15 years). I never knew a love like this even existed. Then because of all that was happening between us I had to know what this was, so I started researching soul mates online.

Everything I read on soul mates didn’t give me answers to all that we had going on, it answered some but certainly not all of it. In the last article I found on soul mates there was the mention of Twin Flames. The quote was by Plato: “And when one of them meets with his other half, the actual half of himself, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy and one will not be out of the other’s sight, even for a moment…”

Now I had a new mission, to learn everything I could about Twin Flames. At the time, 2008, there wasn’t a lot to find on the subject. A few articles here and there and a couple of books was all I could find, but everything I read convinced me that this was in fact what I had found in H, my Twin Flame! More to come on my journey in a later post.
